Promethean Nexus is the first of its kind to propose an energy and materials transition based on the Purple Transition. It is a proposal for an Innovation Hub to prove the viability of the next industrial era. The premise includes an investigation into existing neglected energy technologies as well as exotic theoretical energy sources altogether organized into a new industrial chain that relies on non-scarce materials. The premise also includes a necessary integration of reorganization of society and culture to enable and sustain this energy and materials transition. The consequence is ultimately a city system that integrates all factors as part of a systems approach to avoid and adapt to a constellation of current problems and future risks.
Promethean Nexus represents the convergence and culmination of two lines of work, the techno-optimist vision of Jacque Fresco and the energy-materials resource analysis by Simon Michaux. This project is undertaken by The Venus Project and Simon Michaux as part of The Venus Project's transition program called Venus Evolutions.
While the combination may seem counterintuitive to members of both the degrowth and post-scarcity communities, to the contrary, it is precisely the elements of both that pave a promising path forward.
No, The Venus Project is taking steps to develop the practicality of implementing such proposals.
Michaux’s work represents the closest approximation to a global survey that evaluates the energy and material constraints of a technologically advanced civilization. This coincides with Jacque Fresco’s vision for a preliminary survey from which our future options are deduced.
This project exists as a transitional step. Money will still be necessary to initiate the project and sustain its operation for as long as it is required to buy and sell resources from the rest of the world. However, the system will vertically integrate as much operations as possible to reduce the need for outsourcing. This process will permit the two-tier economy to shrink to non-monetary open access. The system will use a two-tier economy that consists of open access to the necessities of life for all inhabitants in addition to monetary supplements to be used when transacting abroad. A project of this magnitude requires using the tools of this world to build the next one.
While simpler options may be tempting, adapting to the whole of the problems will require a more sophisticated strategy. Anything less will result in the same problems over and over again and may result in the death of millions of people. Reducing society to an agrarian lifestyle will impose a greater burden onto each member of the population and detract from a wide range of features of modern civilization, from technology to duration of education. In essence, if agrarian lifestyles are scaled planet-wide, many achievements of current civilization will be lost.
In brief the project phases are as follows:
Foundation: plan the project
Venus Chrysalis: announce the project, organize personnel, and fundraise
Promethean Nexus: pitch to venture capital, construct first components, eco-resort, TVP HQ renovations, Institute construction
Innovation: design criteria, filter ideas, prefeasibility & feasibility studies, design selection, construction
Construction Seed: conceptual design
Genesis: application and testing
Validation: patents
Commercial Trigger: begin building city system, 1/8th
Completion: industrial park and infrastructure
The entire length of the project may require 10-15 years. After launch, overlapping stages consist of:
Foundation: 6 weeks
Venus Chrysalis: 6-12 months
Promethean Nexus: 12-24 months
Innovation: 12-24 months
Construction Seed: 12 months
Genesis: 24 months
Validation: 12 months
Commercial Trigger: 6 months
Completion: 24 months
There is good reason to build outside the Western world in the deserted territories of geopolitically uninteresting nations. This will prevent interference in local cultures or siphoning their resources and will permit greater flexibility with regard to construction and operations due to minimal governmental regulations. Legislation and building codes are highly restrictive in the Western world.

The governance structure will be traditional insofar as there is a job to do as a private organization. However, as the system transitions toward a community-type society, the governance system will shift toward more decentralized collective control.
The total cost will be approximately $3-5 billion USD.
Stage 1 Foundation requires nearly no funding. We use existing resources.
Stage 2 Venus Chrysalis requires $5 million to initiate development. The first 5 million will be allocated to fund a small team for 3 years to drive the project forward through media and soliciting investors.
